I’ve used many tactics during my 14 seasons in Sokker but probably this is the one that I have a better memory of. It made me win a couple of championships and it was designed to take profit of my winger Jaio, one of the best of my country, which had a great pace, technique and passing but little defending skill.

The attacking options of this tactic are basically two: run the wing with the winger to make a cross to the strikers or make a long pass from one of your defending midfielders through the middle.
A good winger can give you many goal chances but his placement on the field is a bit tricky. On the first place, he must have all the three secondary skills (the ones on the left side) pretty high. Otherwise, the winger won’t be able to advance through the wing and cross the ball, which is his main function. About his placement, he should always be a step behind the forwards so that the midfielders choose him as a good passing option before the strikers. Placing him too low would make him more difficult to get past the opponent defenders and he could choose to pass the ball back to his teammates instead of running though the wing.
Other thing to take into account is the general passing skill of your team. In lower divisions, your players won’t be accurate enough to make a long pass to a winger placed on the touchline and the ball will likely go outside. The distance to the ball is another thing to take into account. The further the ball is from the winger, the further he must be from the side.
In conclusion, this is a tactic everybody should try at least once in his Sokker life but be sure to test it in a friendly game before using it in an official match! :)
