First I want to add that the best tactic is the one suited for the available players that you have and also depending on the opponent. :p
But secondly I write a little bit about my favorite tactic. You can see that tactic at a guess in 150 matches since I play soccer. It is called "4-4-2 (Flophet)". The first time I played that tactic was the 24.01.2007 in a friendly match which I've won 3:0. At 5 rounds to go, I was 2nd in my first Bundesliga season and I needed a plan how to win the title. The result was that 4-4-2. The sunday after the first friendly test, I played against my biggest rival in sokker who was first at that time. I've beaten him 6:1 and he had no chance. Really no chance. I have a lot of scenes in still in my eyes. The following league matches I've won 7:1, 2:0, 7:0 and got the title!
At that time, is was a special tactic. The most managers played a standard 3-5-2, 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 (with off Mid, def Mid and two wingers). A play now with 2 central back, 1 kind of central back and wing back, 1 off wing back, 1 def MID, 1 centre. MID, 1 off MID, 1 Wing, 2 ATT.
This tactic has two main advantages:
- It is asymmetrical, so I have as attacker to 95% at one wing a lot of place, because you can't defend that. And if you want to defend that, I can put in a mirror my attacker sides. So it's always dangerous for my opponent. Place is one of the most important things in sokker in my opinion.
- I have mostly more players near the ball as my opponent.
In the defense I have 5 very defensive orientated players, 2 "normal" (defensive) orientated players and 3 offensive players. In the offensive, I have 4 offensive players, 3 "normal" (offensive) and 3 defensive players.
Apart from that I used some standard tactic tricks. Well positioned players in corners and throw-in, attackers are close to each other, sometimes an offensive defending, sometimes a defensive defending; less place ate opponents possession, a lot of place at my possession and so on and so far.
Since January 2007 I changed the routs of my players a little bit. They got stronger, so they can play better and changes some passes, etc, but the Idea of that tactic is still the same and I have still success. I won my last match against that rivals on sunday with "4-4-2 (Flophet)" 3:1.
Have fun with that text ;)

My favorite tactic is 5-3-2, as a former coach of zagas.
In this tactic, there is a separation of harmonica players on the field, trying to occupy space in the middle defense and attack. I can use 1 or 2 wings: the position will depend on the half-field opponent, there are many players working in this sector and is necessary to have 2 midfields not to lose the moves in this area.
The 2 attackers ensure a greater offensive power. Can be used next to each other: when they have a good level of disarmament, or away from each other to increase the areas of performance and the chances of receiving a free ball from defenders.
It is important to have at least 1 Wing, so the team can use the ball as a weapon of air attack, it is not advisable to rely only releases long, the current engine supports the protection of the goalkeeper moves face to face.
I hope you have enjoyed.
