Did you know that…
at the beginning of 2008 there was a weekly sokker newspaper that was read by more than 1,500 managers from different countries?
Well, this week we had the pleasure to talk to the creator of this newspaper – Arnau, a Spanish manager who had all the possible jobs in sokker. And because we don’t have the chance to talk with him every day, we took advantage of this occasion and asked him to tell us about his experience with “Sokker Zone”, the weekly newspaper that was founded around the beginning of 2008:
I see you "recently" joined Sokker (in February), and I see you love the game already :) good job. Well, you must know - I think I can say this - I was one of the most "respected" users around the world, I did many things for the game: translations, websites, Sokker Zone, admin job, mod job, developer job... I think few people have worked as hard for Sokker as I did. But I left all in September 2008 - had no time and also I felt a little tired, and I had to give other people to have their chance to participate as well.
Well, Soker Zone was launched in early 2008 I think - at that time I was very active and felt like doing new things for Sokker. I had the idea to launch a newspaper with interviews, opinions and reports from major leagues around the world. I searched for a person in every country who would send me their text every monday, so in tuesday I could launch the new issue. I myself did the interviews, the curiosities, and also a few other people collaborated. In order to design it, I used a free software called Scribus - try it ;).
The newspaper was very accepted - I remember having around 1500 downloads for every number. But unfortunately then I entered some "dark" weeks of my life (broke up with my gf + studies + other things) and I had to leave it; in fact, the intention was to stop two-three weeks and then resume, but I didn't. Two other users (Matu from Estonia and another, whose name I don't remember, from Romania) offered to continue the work, but at the end we didn't do it.
You will receive very positive feedback, that for sure.
I don't know what else to say. Try to insert curiosities, ephemerids, I don't know, things that maybe attract users who wouldn't like reading long articles. This also makes the newspaper more "light" (dunno the word). Also try to include an interview with a well-known user, with personal questions but also with Sokker-related questions - ask for tips in tactics, transfers, etc.
